The Institute is seeking nominations by 5 August 2026 for the following positions: AIAA President-Elect, Board of Trustees Members–At-Large, Speaker of the Council, and Council of Directors
Volunteer leadership is the foundation of AIAA. Through the nomination process, passionate and accomplished members have the opportunity to deepen their contributions to the community, broadening engagement and strengthening AIAA’s influence across governance, technical domains, and regional representation.
Nominations for AIAA Board of Trustees – President-Elect
The AIAA Executive Nominating Committee (ENC) will compile a list of potential nominees for AIAA President-Elect. The list of potential nominees will go to the next step of competency review and potential interview held by the ENC in fall 2026. The ENC will select specific candidates for this Board position by December 2026. The President-Elect will be voted on by the AIAA membership. The final slate of candidates will be announced by December 2026 for the election that will be held January 2027.
Nominations for AIAA Board of Trustees – Members–At-Large
The AIAA Executive Nominating Committee (ENC) will compile a list of potential nominees for the Board of Trustees – Members–At-Large. The list of potential nominees will go to the next step of competency review and potential interview held by the ENC in fall 2026. The ENC will select specific candidates for these three Board positions by December 2026. The Board of Trustees – Members–At-Large will be elected by the Council of Directors in January 2027 and announced soon thereafter.
Nominations for Speaker of the Council of Directors
The AIAA Council Nominating Committee (CNC) will compile a list of potential nominees for the Speaker of the Council of Directors for a three-year term (2027–2030). This list will go to the next step of competency review and potential interview held by the CNC. The CNC will select specific candidates for the Speaker position who will be voted on by the Council of Directors. The final slate of candidates will be announced in December 2026. The Speaker will be elected by the Council of Directors in January 2027 and announced soon thereafter.
Nominations for Council of Directors
The AIAA Council Nominating Committee (CNC) will compile a list of potential nominees for the open Director positions on the AIAA Council of Directors. This list will go to the next step of competency review held by the CNC. The CNC will select specific candidates for the open Director positions who will be voted on by the AIAA membership. The final slate of candidates will be announced by December 2026 for the election that will be held January 2027.
Nominations are being accepted for Membership Engagement Division (formerly Regional Engagement and Activities Division) Directors, Aerospace Integrated Engagement Division (formerly Integration and Outreach Division) Directors, and Technical Activities Division Directors for the term May 2027–May 2030. AIAA members may self-nominate or nominate members qualified for the open positions.

Membership Engagement Division coordinates the activities of distinct membership groups organized by either geographic or other distinct aspects of membership to facilitate broad member engagement. A Membership Engagement Director shall lead each region or membership engagement group (e.g., Young Professionals Group). Nominations are being accepted for:
- Director–Region III
- Director–Region VI

Aerospace Integrated Engagement Division coordinates the activities of related Aerospace Integrated Engagement Committees to facilitate cooperative efforts between the various professional areas. Nominations are being accepted for:
