The first AIAA Toronto Metropolitan University (TMU) Student Branch event introduced AIAA to the TMU engineering community and marked a strong beginning for the new student branch. The full-day program welcomed about 50 students, with guests from Bombardier, Launch Canada, and MHI. The agenda included five talks that shared practical advice for engineering students, guidance on graduate studies, and tips on finding a path in the field.

Three research presentations showed current work from different groups: a TMU study on airfoils, a York University overview of satellite missions, and graduate research on composite materials and their uses. The keynote speaker, Walter Gordon, AIAA Niagara Frontier Chair, gave an engaging talk on the Avro Arrow and announced a collaboration with Pearson Airport and an upcoming ceremony that will highlight the value of Canadian aerospace history.

The day concluded with a two-hour networking session connecting student design teams with representatives from MHI and Bombardier. The strong turnout and active questions showed why this effort matters – it connected students with industry, highlighted research at TMU and beyond, and proved that AIAA TMU is ready to build a professional community that creates chances for learning, mentorship, and real impact.
