Sami D. Habchi died on 28 February. He was 68 years old.
Habchi was born in Deir El Ahmar, Lebanon. He immigrated to America and studied at Louisiana State University, where he received his M.S. in mechanical engineering in 1986.
In 1987, Habchi joined CFD Research Corporation where he worked for over 38 years. For the last 15 years of his career, he served as an Executive Vice President over the company’s Aerospace & Defense Solutions Division. In addition to Sami’s technical contributions, he was often regarded as the heart and soul of CFD Research—always willing to pitch in and help his colleagues, partners, and customers. From helping design Navy ejection seats to playing a pivotal role in NASA’s Columbia return to flight, SLS, and the Artemis I mission, his work shaped programs that will stand the test of time.
