More than 40 volunteer leaders from the United States and Australia met in Las Vegas for the 2025 AIAA Regional Leadership Conference. The timing was ideal, set on the day prior to the busy week featuring two signature AIAA events: 2025 AIAA AVIATION Forum and 2025 ASCEND.
Attendees heard vital updates from Institute leaders on the new logo and branding rollout, plus details on upcoming events. A powerful aspect of the day was the exchange of best practices, as participants shared insights to support planning events in their local areas.

“We’re looking to the future and AIAA volunteer leaders are helping chart it. Our local sections and student branches are where the action happens,” said AIAA CEO Clay Mowry in opening the conference.
AIAA Executive Vice President Angelo Iasiello led an important discussion on how to create, build, and activate section potential.

“Dynamic local communities are the core of AIAA member engagement. Thriving local networks support grassroots interests by leveraging a shared passion for aerospace and AIAA,” Angelo stated.
The Institute recognized numerous sections with annual awards honoring particularly notable achievements. Members of AIAA’s 58 sections around the world were recognized for excellent activities that help fulfill the Institute’s mission.
Volunteer leaders are the heartbeat of AIAA.
“Thank you for your dedication to the aerospace community. We can’t wait to see the impact of your leadership on the Institute in the next year,” Clay concluded.
