William (Bill) D. Deininger, Ph.D., died on 21 June. He was 68 years old. 

Deininger graduated with a B.S. in Physics from the State University of New York Cortland (1979). He then received an M.S. in Physics and Plasma Physics from Colorado State University (1982) and a Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from University of Pisa (1995).

For seven years in the 1980s, Deininger worked for the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. He was a senior scientist for eight years at Fiat Avio. In 1998, he joined Ball Aerospace as a staff consultant, becoming senior staff consultant in 2018, and Technical Fellow in 2021. Deininger then became Technical Fellow, Systems Engineering, Space and Mission Systems Sector at BAE Systems in 2024.

Deininger was very active in the AIAA Systems Engineering Technical Committee, including working on sessions for ASCEND.
